Could anything be more exciting than the Academy Awards? This mystery takes place on the night before the big night during the private party that Columbus Studios is throwing to celebrate their 7 nominations including "Best Picture" for the studio's blockbuster hit "Back When I Loved You". Your host and hostess is Shemar Moore (played by Devlan Brown) and Kristen Vangsness (played by Nancy Compton).
You will meet the three stars of the film,(all nominated), the director, the producer, the costume designer and the public relations manager. Anyone would think that on a night such as this everyone would get along. But someone isn't waiting until tomorrow night for their dreams to come true.
Richard McKullen - Played Ken Trembert
'the director'
Richard may be one of the luckiest directors in Hollywood. Although he is new to movie-making, he was able to achieve a nomination as Best Director for his first movie! Richard is trying to keep a cool head, but he knows that all his future ambitions depend on him keeping both his temper and his secrets to himself.
Elizabeth Watkins - Played by Stacy Gilbert
'lead actress'
This is Elizabeth's third nomination for best actress and she wants the award to confirm her standing as one of Hollywood's most in-demand actresses. She is a confidant woman and is very much aware not only of her talents as an actress but her ability to attract men. She is also ambitious and unafraid to make things happen so that her star can continue to burn brightly.
Mark Bridgeland - Played by Owen Standley
'the male star'
Mark finds himself at his first Academy Awards with his first nomination for his first movie! How lucky can you get? Mark has seen all his dreams come true over the past year and it only a secret from the past that is stopping him from achieving the one thing he wants.
Sophie Simpson - Played by Amy DeRubis
the supporting actress
Sophie has been in the movie business for years and knows everything and everyone. Once a legend, she now is lucky to get a few small parts every few years. She is thrilled with her nomination and determined to win. She has battled back from considerable financial distress and is confident that a win tomorrow night will assure her of a comfortable future.
Diedra Lamoose - Played by Amber Fawn Seeley
the costume designer
Diedra is a master at costume design and also a master of making a bad impression. This temperamental designer hates all actors and directors but acknowledges that without them there would be no call for her marvelous designs. She has been nominated nine times in the past and has never won. Like many creative people, Diedra is very superstitious and she has all her lucky charms in place to finally assure a win tomorrow night.
Brian Columbus - Played by Eric Jarabak
the producer
Head of Columbus Studios, Brian is used to being listened to and obeyed. He enjoys the good life that his successful studio has given him and lives the lavish lifestyle of a big Hollywood studio-owner.
Cynthia Columbus - Played by Becky Faidley
the producer's wife and studio publicist
Although she now works at Columbus Studios as their head publicist, Cynthia is an aspiring screenwriter. Cynthia will become "the detective" after the murder has occurred.
Simon Wetherby played by Ran-D Collier
Elizabeth's escort
Simon is an unemployed actor with plenty of ambition. His charm and charisma has had Elizabeth fascinated for the last few months, but he is more fascinated with making contacts and getting his first starring role. He is plagued with money troubles and being Elizabeth's escort has eased his way to being seen by the 'right' people. Simon is confident that his appearance at the awards tomorrow night will start his career off with a triumphant bang.
Louise Fullerton - Played by Camette Marie Standley
Mark's escort
Louise is an accountant and unused to the glitz and glamour that surrounds the Academy Awards. Tragically injured in a car accident back in high school, Louise is uncomfortable in public as it is necessary for her to walk with a cane. She has overcome her shyness tonight in order to support Mark (she's known him since he was her boyfriend since high school) - but she would far rather be home watching the whole circus on TV. Besides, aren't there are more important things in life than a dumb award?
